This report is based on data from the survey conducted in April 2024. It analyses Italian citizens' attitudes towards complementary health insurance by examining the factors influencing its uptake.
Data collected shows that in Italy, one in four individuals has private health insurance coverage. Among the factors contributing to the decision to take out such coverage, disposable income appears to be a primary driver. Other relevant factors include opinions on the adequacy of available products in relation to personal needs, the perception of risks associated with health-related events, and the perceived quality of the National Health Service (SSN).
It also appears that Italians' willingness to pay for a health policy is influenced by socio-economic characteristics, such as the respondent's professional status, and by individual perceptions of the risk of incurring healthcare expenses in the future.
